Now that spring is getting closer and the weather is improving, I see many people out with their cameras. The landscape in the Northwest is always beautiful especially when the daffodils bloom and the leaves start popping on the trees. A simple way to take better landscapes is just remember 2 words – Sunrise and Sunset. I had an assignment to capture the skyline of Vancouver, WA. It sounded easy and I won’t go into the details. I finally found a good location and shot this scene. It was mid afternoon by then and I knew that I need to come back in the morning because the shadows were covering the face of the Hilton hotel and the lighting was just too hard. In the morning the clouds and the rising sun gave me a bonus but more important is the way the soft light molds itself around the Smith Tower in the center. So, if you want to really catch the beauty of the scenery, take your pictures at sunrise and about 20 minutes after and sunset and about 20 minutes before.
