Here are three other images from my South Waterfront shoot. The city and OHSU did right and invested more to get a tram tower that adds to the city. There was quite a controversy in the planning and at least I am happy that every time I drive I-5 I don’t have to look at something that resembles a high power tower. (left)
The Mirabella certainly lives up to its name in Spanish – looks beautiful (center) and on the right is another view of the John Ross Tower.
The key photographing buildings like this is to understand and measure the light correctly. In the case of this particular afternoon, there was a wide range of light between the brightest high lights bouncing the sun’s reflection of the shiny surfaces and the dark shadows. I used a technique that often looks phony called High Dynamic Range (HDR) where, using a tripod I was able to capture the whole range of light in a number of exposures and then blend them together -“keeping what is worth keeping and with a breath of kindness – blow the rest away” I hope they “blow you away” but in a different sense.

I really like the content on your web-site. There are lots of digital photography websites that are just plain bad out there, but this is simply not one of them. This template you have used certainly enhances the feel and then compliments this article delightfully. My goal is to return to see a lot more of your hard work. Kudos!
